What is Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are viruses that are common in many varieties of animal species. According to the experts, it is very rare that the animal coronavirus infects human beings. However, the recent strain is very dangerous and is a new virus that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei province, China but is now spreading across the world. The experts at WHO have identified respiratory symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. More severe cases can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and also death.

Like other viruses, this particular virus likely emerged from an animal Now the virus is being transmitted from person to person. Usually, coronavirus infections get transmitted from one person to another person only once someone who is infected is showing symptoms. But the fact that makes this particular virus more dangerous is that this particular strain may be infectious when people are not sick yet.

Why is this Coronavirus Dangerous?

Historically coronaviruses have not caused too much concern and alarm, as they are usually the reason behind the common cold. There are three strains that have developed in the last two decades, including the most recent strain, the deadly 2019-nCoV, which are causing serious illnesses. This includes respiratory issues, respiratory failure, and death.SARS is also a form of coronavirus. But the deadly strain 2019-nCoV is not the same as SARS.

The World Health Organization announced that the coronavirus is a public health emergency and hence is now an international concern. For public awareness and to keep ourselves protected from this virus, we reached out to experts to help attain some knowledge on the coronavirus and what one should do to protect themselves against it.

This person then touches his mouth or face and that is how the virus transmits.

What If You Have To Travel?

It is recommended that you do not plan a trip to China for some time. According to the latest reports, India has temporarily suspended the E-Visa facility for Chinese citizens and foreigners in China. But if it is unavoidable then according to experts, safeguard yourself, by washing your hands often and avoiding anyone who is ill.
